...Somehow I won this one. Which obviously means the rest of the Beech Vintage kit is on order... plus some XRay snares... and a new live kit. Haha... I have a problem... and steak. :)
Funny, I buy myself a studio and it doesn't cross my mind that I can record my own stuff now until six months later. I sorted through my massive back catalog of random/ridiculous grooves, anti-grooves and abstract rhythmic concepts from the past 15 years, last night. HUNDREDS of pages of stuff to lay down... This is going to take a while :)
Finished up drums for Marc LaBossiere's album, it's going to sound really cool!
Just a few minor things to come. Some stand parts : I've designed a way to mount almost everything off a rack, so it'll be pretty much the cleanest drum recording rig, ever. All mics have been picked and for the most part purchased. Only a few left on order and then we're off to the races!
Coming soon (before the end of 2009) a killin' top end studio rig for convenient tracking. Perfect timing to lay down with the first addition to the beech vintage kit and new 13x8 maple thin snare! Check the pics, sounds asap!
Grand Analog wins a Western Canada Music Award for best Rap/Hip Hop recording! On Friday we opened for Grammy Award Winner, Lupe Fiasco to a 3,500 person packed house at the MaxBell center!

Hey everybody, I've decided to take on a select few students at Grain Exchange on top of my packed regular teaching schedule.
What's different here is that I'm not planning to offer the lessons as a weekly scheduled thing. (Weekly lessons are available) I plan on giving information that's really heavy, which likely will take longer than a week to get happein'. So you get your lesson, then you're on your way, when you feel comfortable with the material, call me and we'll set up another one! There are short checkup lessons available, not for new material, but just to ensure you're still approaching the material correctly if the student needs.
Check out my poster! I'll be littering them around town ASAP!
Come check out some funky urban country with Ridley Bent this guy's awesome!
So I made a pretty stupid bet the other day. I bet that I could go a year sans buying any more drums. Just drums. Cymbals, electronics and hardware play nothing into this bet... I'm in trouble :P
So, I've started a new YouTube channel AaronEdgarDrum I got myself a new HD camcorder and plan to be putting up a ton of instructional stuff, soon to be selling an instructional E-Book. "Dexterity in Odd Rhythms" Stay tuned! Oh, and subscribe to my channel!
Click your way to the Gallery section asap!
It is very clear that I have found my voice in cymbals. I've always been searching for the darkest, trashiest sounds available. I thought I had them with some of Sabian's HHX stuff, Hammerax however out darks and trashes them hands down!
I never thought I would be in a situation where I had one cymbal set that I wanted to use for everything. I always had tons of variations and changes given the situation... In the past six weeks, regardless of what I've been playing or with who... I have used the Hammeraxes, flat out, they excel all over the map. Period. When I hit my hihats, all I want to hear are my 16" FlyHats. End of story! I've been left completely disinterested in "normal" cymbals. Thank you, Hammerax!
Get your asses to the Media section asap!
Thanks to everybody that showed up, the show was a blast! Expect a couple videos up asap!
I know it's been forever, I've been a really busy dude! Last night, playing with the Joe Curtis band at the Kingshead, Lenny Kravitz's band showed up and we all jammed the night away! It was killer, make sure you all go see them tonight at the MTS center!

Hey all. It took me a little while to figure out exactly how I wanted to organize a news feed type aspect to my site. I've decided upon putting a bio section unto it's self. So I can keep the home page clear for news updates, rather than just the bio sitting here.
Also, I've officially left my regular gig playing top-40 every weekend. So, as of now, I'm freelance and open for fill in work etc. a.edgardrum{at}gmail.com
Thanks for checking out my site. I am a diverse professional drummer with 13 years of experience and dedication. Fluent in all styles, a very dynamic player. Available for electronic file transfers, long distance sessions welcome.
What I'm offering:
-Professional studio recording of drum tracks.
-Wide array of Sonor drums (Including SQ2, Artist, Designer, Delite, S-Classix etc).
-Diverse cymbal selection. With an emphasis on darker cymbal sounds.
-Roland's TD-12 Electronic percussion.
Bio:
Aaron Edgar first picked up the drumsticks at the age of twelve and has had a tough time putting them down ever since. Within the first couple years, Aaron realized this was his passion. It was obvious what he had to do. It was drums or bust. He was (and still is) obsessed with the pursuit of drumming and further challenging himself to develop his amazing knack of dominating the polyrhythm and odd meter. With a groove so phat, it borders on obese and an ability to find just what it was other musicians were looking for, he quickly became one of the hardest working and most in-demand drummers in Winnipeg, with good reason.
Aaron continues an over the top schedule at all times. If he is not gigging, he is practicing, and if not practicing, he is teaching and the rest of the time he spends dreaming about the drums. He has toured all over the country playing shows to thousands and thousands of people. Lots of high profile work, from tours to charting music videos. Country rock to jazz, skittery drum n' bass, and everything in between. He just never stops.
His influences run far and wide but most notably, you will realize that drummers such as Steve Smith, Gavin Harrison, ?uestlove and JoJo Mayer have most definitely shaped the direction of his playing.
